GLIDE

The reference

Every key, every parameter

The complete map. Not a read, a lookup: the keymap, the fn layer, the settings tree, every range and default, and where your sounds actually live.

The same list lives on the device

tab opens settings; How to play is the very first row. Hold fn and the bottom line of the screen spells out the whole fn layer while you hold it.

Keys

The keymap

GLIDE keymap: four note rows played as strings, control keys labelled around them, fn chords listed beneath
Four rows of ten are notes. Everything around them is control.
Plain text, for printing
 string 3 (hi) | 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 | - oct- = oct+ bksp PANIC

 string 1 | a s d f g h j k l ; | enter tilt
 string 0 (lo) | z x c v b n m , . / | space sustain

ctrl / opt volume - / + alt loop pedal
BTN RST (left trigger) restart to Launcher
G0 (right trigger) trigger macro, muffle by default
rowsEach row is a string, one voice at a time, gliding between whatever you press on it. Left to right walks up the scale. Rows sit a fourth apart by default (Row interval).
bottom rowThe jam row when Jam rows is on (the default): tap to latch a drone or spell a chord progression. Hold shift while tapping for a chromatic power-chord voicing.
shiftChromatic semitones for as long as it's held. Momentary on purpose.
spaceSustain pedal.
- / =Octave down / up. Octave keys chooses whether held notes sweep or re-strike.
[ / ]Pitch bend down / up over the Bend range. With fn held and a knob grabbed, they turn it fine.
\Tap tempo. Two taps make a beat; a single tap only reports the current tempo.
enterTilt: tap cycles, hold locks.
altLoop pedal: tap to record, tap to close, tap to overdub. Hold to clear.
bkspPanic: all notes off. Also clears drones, the progression, and the solo/backing split. Held during the boot splash: factory reset.
ctrl / optVolume down / up. Hold to ramp.
tabSettings, and the help screen.
` (hold)Save and restart GLIDE. It lands on GLIDE's splash again, not Launcher. Also skips the tour.

What those keys do together — the slide, the chord slide, backing yourself — is the playing guide.

Layer

The fn layer

Everything below is a chord: hold fn, then press the key. Add shift where it says so.

fn + q..pLoad that sound slot, live. Unsaved edits on the live sound drop.
fn + shift + q..pSave the live sound over that slot.
fn + 1..0Grab a quick knob: glide, attack, decay, sustain, release, waveform, cutoff, voices, bend range, volume. Keep fn held, then -/= turns it coarse and [/] fine.
fn + kKey up a semitone. fn+shift+k goes down.
fn + k (hold)LISTEN: the mic hears the room, works out key, mode and tempo, and retunes. ADV only.
fn + sNext scale. fn+shift+s goes back.
fn + aArpeggiate the backing chords: up, down, up/down, off. fn+shift+a steps back. Always off after a restart.
fn + zArp rate: 1/8, 1/8 triplet, 1/16, 1/4.
fn + xArp span: one octave or two.
fn + \Metronome on / off.
fn + ctrl / optMetronome volume.
fn + altPeel the last overdub off the loop. Repeat to walk the stack; it bounces at the ends.

The settings tree

as the device groups it

Settings is an accordion. Only CREATE is unfolded when it opens, so the whole map fits on the screen. How to play sits above everything.

HUD

What the screen is telling you

top leftThe sound's name. A * beside it means unsaved edits on the live sound.
top middleKey and scale.
OCT nWhich octave you're in. An amber LK beside it means the backing is holding its own octave or sound while the solo moved.
voxLead voices sounding, against the cap. Drones, the loop and the progression never count.
big traceThe waveform scope: real output, phosphor afterglow. Or the pitch trail: pitch over about seven seconds, root gridlines, bends drawn amber.
readoutThe lead voice in cents, tracked through a glide.
REC / LOOP / OVRLoop pedal state: recording (red, elapsed), playing (green, progress bar), overdubbing (amber). x3 is the layer count; FULL means the take hit its event ceiling.
PROG / ARPThe chord strip over the scope. The sounding chord is boxed with its Roman numeral. ARP^, ARPv, ARP^v name the arp direction.
SOLOFlashes on a sound switch when the backing kept the old sound.
grid mapHeld leads in green, latched drones in amber with a +n count; jam motion blinks each struck key on the beat.
hint lineAlternates the classic hints with the fn-layer headliners. Goes loop-aware while a take exists.
batteryA warning below 25%, blinking red at 10%. Settings shows the exact percentage.
Kept

Where things live, and the three resets

On the card

Your saved slots. Saving over a slot writes a file in /glide/slots/, the same .gpat format as the library. No card in? The instrument plays the same; only saving asks for one, and it says so in plain words. Pop the card back in and your slots return mid-session.

Your library. Save to SD files live in /glide/. Nothing on the device ever touches them, the factory reset included.

On the device

Settings and the live sound. A sliver of flash shared with Launcher and every other app. GLIDE keeps its footprint tiny, mirrors settings and the live sound to the card, and if another app ever fills the shared space, the next boot cleans it out and restores everything. You'd see a green STORAGE FIXED for two seconds; that's the whole event.

The odometer. Notes struck and hands-on hours. A record, not a setting: it survives every reset, the factory one included.

Three ways back
Sound resetThe current slot back to factory. Settings → LIBRARY.
Reset defaultsAll settings back to factory. Saved sounds kept. Settings → SYSTEM.
hold bksp at the splashFull factory reset: settings and the ten slots, card files for those slots included. Your /glide library is never touched. It has to be a press made during the splash and held through the red confirm bar, about a second and a half; release at any point cancels. Your two generative slots keep their identity and the odometer rides across.
